The Music of Ann Mayo Muir

As a member of Folk-Legacy Record’s flagship group Bok, Muir, Trickett, Ann Mayo Muir played a crucial role in the trio’s sound, cementing their three-part vocal harmonies with her rich, warm contralto and delicate soprano, and adding a depth of color to the group’s instrumentals with flute, harp, and her own peculiar instrument, the Bell—a downsized, bell-shaped 12-string. This retrospective compilation features 15 songs spotlighting Ann’s musical contributions, drawing from years of material recorded with Gordon Bok and Ed Trickett. The selections here were chosen with care, offering many gems from the group’s long recording career, including the deeply stirring “Ways of Man” and “Fear a Bhatta,” the lyrical and gorgeous “O-E Dallay,” and the whimsical “Little Dan.”
