Kid Thomas Valentine and his Creole Jazz Band

“Kid” Thomas Valentine (1896–1987) was one of the originators of New Orleans traditional jazz. Known as a hot trumpet player, Kid Thomas’ style of play remained true to his New Orleans roots through his long career. This 1959 recording is representative of the music he played as the leader of his own band and as a member of the Preservation Hall Jazz bands of the 1950s, ʼ60s, and ʼ70s.
