Acclaimed singer-songwriter Chip Taylor, who penned "Wild Thing" and "Angel of the Morning" among dozens of classics performed by Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and others, will release Golden Kids Rules on October 18 on Smithsonian Folkways. Taylor, alongside his three granddaughters, celebrates the joy and wonder of family over the course of thirteen original songs on his first children's album. Highlighting the idea that a child has a unique and special perspective in the world, this album melds the husky, time-worn vocals and the musical instincts of a seasoned performer with the charming artistry of his three young grandchildren.

Spending time in the studio with granddaughters Riley, Kate, and Sam was a natural extension of Taylor's ongoing inspiration from his family. Examples include the track "Now That Kristian and Anna Have Wed," first performed by Taylor & The Grandkids at his son Kristian's wedding, and "Magical Horse," based on a poem granddaughter Kate wrote for school.

Taylor's Academy Award-winning brother Jon Voight encapsulates the effect of Golden Kids Rules in the liner notes, musing, "Charm is an ingredient we seem to have lost in music over the years...and purity. To me, this album is a treasure that comes just at the right time to lift us to a reminder of the power of family and the majesty of children."

Chip Taylor & The Grandkids made their debut performance at the 2011 Smithsonian Folklife Festival on July 9, a free concert held on the National Mall in Washington, DC.
