The Bancroft Seventh-Day Adventist Choir, based at the Bancroft mine in what is now Zambia, sings a typical separatist Christian hymn. Most of the melodies have been absorbed, digested, and handed on in the oral folk tradition, so that it is now nearly impossible to trace their ancestry. With each succeeding generation, they become more and more African in spirit and execution.
