Fleming Brown
A banjo teacher with Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music at the time of this recording, Fleming Brown was a folk musician and song collector born in Marshall, Missouri. Brown's earliest inspirations were Burl Ives, Doc Bogs, and Uncle Dave Macon, whose music moved him to learn banjo from WLS National Barn Dance DJ Doc Hopkins. This record is a collection of traditional songs from the American southeast, and includes several well-known tunes (the Cuckoo, John Henry, Railroad Bill) alongside ballads, mining songs, and more.
