Excerpt from the Zohar
The Zohar, or Book of Splendor, is a kabbalistic text, written in the last quarter of the 13th century and now attributed to the Castilian mystic Moses de León. It has been preserved among Sephardic and Oriental Jewish communities. It is popular among Bukharan Jews, who recite from it on a variety of ceremonial occasions, in particular, commemorations of the dead. It is traditionally recited by men. Its original language is mostly Aramaic, but Isaac Kataev reads here from a translation into Tajik.
