This Tayambaka performance is a part of the 'Maha Kumbhabhishekam' or the renovation ritual ceremony of the old Shiva temple at Guruvayur. All famous Tayambaka players of Kerala perform at this seven day temple festival. The percussion ensemble performs on a stage in front of the main temple lit by oil lamps. This item is performed with one chenda, accompanied by six chendas and three ilathalams.
