“Galinha Island.” A Mandinka-Portuguese creole song from the early 1960s by José Carlos. Originally sung about a Portuguese political prison, it is adapted by Keba Cissoko into a contemporary antiwar song which repeatedly asks the question, “When is war going to end in Africa?”
