  • Singing Soul Food – November People’s Picks from the Southern Foodways Alliance

The Southern Foodways Alliance (SFA) is a member-supported nonprofit institution of the Center for the Study of Southern Culture at the University of Mississippi that documents, studies, and celebrates the diverse food cultures of the changing American South. Just in time for Thanksgiving, the folks at the SFA compiled this delicious playlist that highlights the kinship between Southern food and Southern music—two cultural traditions that draw from diverse global traditions, were often born out of poverty and hardship, and continue to evolve in exciting ways as new populations, ingredients, and instruments influence regional culture. Listen to the playlist and read the Southern Foodways Alliance’s annotations here while you set the table for the feasting ahead.
