Ochil Ibragimov learned to chant these two Jewish prayers from his grandfather, Chaim ben Eliezer, who lived in Shahrisabz, an old Jewish community southeast of Bukhara. The Jewish Shalom Aleichem is recited on Sabbath Eve upon return from the synagogue and the Kiddush is recited before the Sabbath meal.
