Afghan virtuoso rebâb player Ustad Mohammad Omar, accompanied by Indian tabla player Zakir Hussain, explores the melodic mode of pelo. Omar begins with a free-rhythm improvisation (shakal). He then moves into the naghma, a four-part section, set in tintal, a 16-beat repeating rhythmic pattern.
