Del Oyé (bomba)

Del Oyé (bomba)

This yubá form of bomba, from the spiritual bomba repertoire of the late "patriarch of the bomba" Rafael Cepeda, is distinguished by its characteristic rhythmic pattern. This rendition foregrounds Rafael Cepeda's son, Roberto Cepeda, in the lead voice and Juan Gutiérrez on the drum called primo or subidor. The meaning of the African-derived text has been lost over time.
