Saturday Night at the Bull and Mouth

Peggy Seeger and Ewan MacColl
Saturday Night at the Bull and Mouth Husband-and-wife folk duo Ewan MacColl (1915–1989) and Peggy Seeger (b. 1935) present this live set of folk songs, recorded at the Bull & Mouth pub in London, England, in 1978. The songs, arranged by MacColl and Seeger, range from traditional Child ballads (“Rambling Man” and “Th‘owd Chap”) to MacColl’s protest song about the massacre of black South Africans in Sharpville in 1960 (“The Ballad of Sharpville”). Peggy Seeger plays the English concertina, a small accordion, on two selections (“Rattling Roaring Willie” and “I’m a Rover”). Liner notes include lyrics to all the tracks, along with brief summaries explaining the origins of each.
