Isiah Shembe (d. 1935), prophet of the Church of the Nazareth of Ndedwe District, composed and arranged many songs for the church. This Zulu hymn had been composed around 1850 as a secular song warning people not to revolt against the paramount chief of the Zulu. Shembe reworked it into a religious song warning Christians to stay loyal to God.
