Southern Sotho circumcision songs

Each stage of the circumcision of Southern Sotho boys in the Matatiele District, South Africa, is accompanied by a song. Hugh Tracey recorded these circumcision songs in 1957 at Queen’s Mercy, the headquarters of Chief Moshesh (Tracey 1973).
