Howie Mitchell
Born in Lexington, Virginia, Mitchell was first introduced to the dulcimer during the Folk Revival of the 1950's. Inspired by the music of Jean Ritchie and Andrew Rowan Summers, Mitchell soon began building his first dulcimer. Eight years and forty-six dulcimers later, he recorded this record for Folk-Legacy, the fifth album released on the label. The album is a collection of traditional songs, gently performed with care and passion on an instrument that Mitchell feels "seems to make music at the slightest touch". Included on this record are songs of Appalachia, political songs of Jacobite Scotland, and a host of others.
