American musician Nadi Qamar (born Spaulding Givens) recorded Indigenous dance music performed by musicians from the Ivory Coast (Côte d’Ivoire) at the 2nd World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture held in Lagos, Nigeria in 1977. A variety of drums are heard throughout the dances, providing changes in tempo and moods. The recording is part of a series designed “to present Black and African culture in its highest and widest conception.”
