Singer-songwriter Johnny Richardson sings for a listening audience of young children. Richardson penned 20 of the 21 songs on this album and closes with Malvina Reynolds’ “You Can’t Make a Turtle Come Out.” members of the animal kingdom are recurring characters with songs like “The Cuckoo Bird Song,” “Johnny Built a Horse,” “Who’s Afraid of the Wiggly Snake,” and “Hopping with the Kangaroo.” Richardson recorded four albums of songs for children for Folkways from 1964 to 1982.
