This part is entitled "Motini ka byah." It relates how Nal married Motini, the daughter of the demon Bhumasur. Lacchi Baniya, Nal's adoptive grandfather, finds a beautiful cowrie shell used for gambling. He gives it to King Pratham. The king, however, also wants the other fifteen shells that make up the set. He imprisons Lacchi. Nal goes to Pratham and promises him the shells within six months if he releases Lacchi immediately. Pratham agrees. Nal proceeds to the beach where Lacchi had found the cowrie. There he meets Behmata, an old woman, who tells him that the cowries are with Motini, the daughter of the demon Bhumasur. Nal enters Bhumasur's fort, where he and Motini fall in love. Nal kills Bhumsaur, and the two get married. The segment presented here begins when Nal is about to go inside Bhumasur's fort. The goddess Durga gives him courage, and he enters.
