Geet is a general term for songs that have no particular role or fixed place. They are often the more popular songs sung at a mehfil. This geet is attributed to Amir Khusrau and is addressed to his pir Nizamuddin Auliya as a lover. It is common in Sufi poetry for the poet to assume the role of the female lover and the saint or God as the male.
