This is a heroic ballad, panwara, that tells the story of an early Maharaja of Tehri who went with his son on a visit to see the Maharaja of Rampur, in Himachal Pradesh. The Maharaja there had no heir to his kingdom and, according to the ballad, he attempted to have the Maharaja of Tehri killed so that he could take his son. But the assasin's bullet hit the dog who was accompanying the Maharaja, and the latter escaped back to Tehri, Garhwal.
