Gospel Trails

Sons of the San Joaquin’s Gospel Trails marked the first release for the Colorado Springs-based country label Western Jubilee Recording Company; over the course of its history, the label would go on to release seven of the group’s albums, leaving them as one of Western Jubilee’s flagship artists. A collection of mostly traditional gospel songs are performed in the group’s characteristic Western style—what they refer to on this record as “cowboy gospel.” Notably, Gospel Trails includes one of the last recordings from “Queen of the West” Dale Evans Rogers, who joins the Sons on the hymn “In the Sweet By-and-By.”
