The group Suarasama plays contemporary compositions that draw from several traditional styles of Indonesian music and traditional music from around the world. "Fajar Di Atas Awan" (Dawn over clouds), like many of Irwansyah Harahap’s songs, is concerned with religion, here the peace that comes when faith reasserts itself after a period of doubt or distance from God. The composer, a Muslim, notes that "spiritually, textually, and musically" the song is influenced by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and qawwali. The melody is basically modal, and the genre requires the use of a sruti-box. To introduce elements of a contrasting system, tonal harmony, Irwansyah Harahap has added a guitar.
