Peak Impressions

Released in the summer of 1968 on Monitor Records, Peak Impressions is a trip. These 10 original songs composed by the Boston-based teen band, The Freeborne, showcase the psychedelic sounds iconic of the late 1960s. Farfisa organ, electric piano, distorted electric guitar, affected vocals, and mystical lyricism lay the foundation for Peak Impressions. Trumpets, flutes, recorders, cello, harpsichord, and "primitive sampling" make the record a stimulating and unpredictable listen. This album, the band's only release, is a great companion to another Smithsonian Folkways recording, Timothy Leary's The Psychedelic Experience.
