Fast Folk Musical Magazine (Vol. 2, No. 4) The Boston Area
Various Artists

New York–based Fast Folk Musical Magazine journeys to Boston to survey the New England folk music scene. The selections in this collection provide examples of the traditional and new folk music styles that were circulating in the Boston area in the mid–1980s. Performers representing more traditional folk styles include Geoff Bartley (“When the Bow Is Pulled”), Bob Franke (“For Real”), and Lorraine Lee (“Rockin’ in the Weary Land”). The new folk music is represented by Julie Snow (“Baptism of Fire”), Jeanie Stahl (“I Do For You/You Do For Me”) and Carol Goodman (“Luise”). The hot political issue of the day is captured in Eric Kilburn’s “Made in the USA.” A 16–page facsimile of Fast Folk Music Magazine is included.
