Epilogue to the String Band Tradition

The Grand Curucaye String Orchestra performs lively old-time Spanish dance music, now a nearly forgotten genre. What is notable about this music is that string instruments are plucked rather than bowed in order to focus more on the element of rhythm. Banjo leads the ensemble, which also includes cuatro (a strummed stringed instrument similar in shape to a ukulele or guitar) and cello (played by slapping the strings).

La Gran Orquesta de Cuerdas de Curucaye interpreta una animada música bailable española de antaño, ahora un género casi olvidado.
