A string of childhood offenses (from killing lizards to schoolyard fighting), being parented by a village of "home-grown southern reactionaries," dropping out of school, divorcing at age twenty, suffering harsh winters at the mercy of a New York City slumlord—these are just a few of the experiences that have contributed to folksinger/guitarist Jeff Ampolsk’s gritty message.
