Hawaiian Chant, Hula, and Music

Hawaiian Chant, Hula, and Music spotlights the varieties of Hawaiian music and folk dance exercises and demonstrations. The recording features music performed on such instruments as the “ohe hano ihu” (a flute made of bamboo played with the nose), the “hula papa hehi” (musical treadle board made of wood), and the “hula pa ipu” (a gourd drum). Included in the liner notes is information about the various chants heard on the album and what they mean in the context of the songs.
