Fr. Peter F. O’Brien, S.J., is a Roman Catholic priest and a member of The Society of Jesus (the Jesuits). He met Mary Lou Williams in 1964, when they became fast friends. He managed her musical career from the fall of 1970 until her death in 1981. He is now Executive Director of The Mary Lou Williams Foundation, which has two purposes: to advance the work of Mary Lou Williams and to bring jazz to children. He serves as a priest at Resurrection Parish in Jersey City, New Jersey.
