Stripped Down

“These ladies are not only gifted musicians but trusted folklorists who are keeping their traditions alive.” Billboard Magazine
Founded by Ann Savoy and Jane Vidrine in 1995, the Magnolia Sisters is that rarest of musical groups, an all-female Cajun band. In this 2009 recording, the Sisters’ musical approach mixes rare, haunting ballads with upbeat Cajun dancehall music to create both an ancient and timeless mood. Songs of particular note are the a cappella version of "A Boire, à Boire," the beautiful "La Valse d'Amitié," “Creole Stomp” featuring the twin fiddles of Anya Burgess and Vidrine, and their rendition of the Cajun standard "Jolie Petite Blonde."
