Life's Railway to Heaven

Marcus
Life's Railway to Heaven Born-again Christian singer-songwriter Marcus Uzilevsky, who goes simply by the name Marcus, performs a collection of religious and gospel music. He is backed by an ensemble that includes Darby Slick (writer of “Somebody to Love”) on bass, drums, and guitar; Gene Mitchell, playing a “mandolin style’ acoustic guitar”; and Mark Spoelstra on Dobro, giving the music a bluegrass orientation. The album opens with Hank Williams’ “I Saw the Light” and closes with the traditional song “Gospel Ship.” Along the way Marcus performs “The Great Speckled Bird,” “On the Wings of a Dove,” two original compositions— “Take Up Your Pallet and Walk” and “Where the Soul Never Dies”—and the title song “Life’s Railway to Heaven.” Lyrics for all tracks are included in the liner notes.
