Sam McGee
Grand Dad of the Country Guitar Pickers In the 1920s, Sam McGee began his professional career as an old-time country music performer playing with Uncle Dave Macon. He was a regular performer on the Grand Old Opry radio show from 1926 until just before his death in 1975. This recording made by Mike Seeger in 1969–1970 showcases Sam’s unique fingerpicking style on the guitar, banjo, and the banjo-guitar.
