Six Toronto Poets

This collection of poetry features six poets living or working in Toronto, Canada, in the mid-1950s. As noted in poet Jay MacPherson’s introductory remarks, the poets represented in this recording do not constitute “a particular sub-group or tradition within … Canadian poetry, but a kind of cross-section of it.” The settings, themes, and approaches taken by the six are varied and resist easy categorization. Subjects range from memories of childhood, both real and imagined, to nature and reflections on Greek and Roman mythology. The text for all 63 poems is included in the liner notes.
