Stop and Listen

Suzy Thompson discovered the music of Bessie Smith, Sippie Wallace, Memphis Minnie, and other old time blues singers in 1975. She has been playing and singing old time music ever since. This live performance from 2004 at the Freight and Salvage Coffeehouse in Berkeley, California, is only her second recording. Playing fiddle and guitar and singing, Suzy is backed by partner Eric on guitar, the Thompson String Ticklers, Del Ray on resonator guitar, Larry Hanks on Jew’s harp, and vocalist Kate Brislin. When not playing and singing old time music, Suzy plays with the California Cajun Orchestra.
