An Evening at Cafe Feenjon

An Evening at Cafe Feenjon

New York’s City’s Café Feenjon, known for its popularity among Near Eastern music fans, showcased a number of well-known musicians in its day (1970s to mid-1980s), including Herschel Bernardi, Eartha Kitt, and José Feliciano. On this recording, the Feenjon Group, named after this café, gathers for a night of music. Musicians Menachem Dworman, Margalit Ankory, Jerry Sappir, Angelo Saridis, Ali Hafid, and Jimmy Linardos provide vocals, with Steve Knight on guitar and Lou Mavrogian on bass. Song themes include love, nature, and longing, and are performed in Yiddish, Russian, Hebrew, Arabic, Greek, Turkish, and Spanish.
