Sounds of Spoken English: English Speech Instruction

New York University professor Wallace House (c. 1900–1983) delivers a lecture focusing on the proper enunciation of English words and letter combination sounds. He guides and corrects when necessary his students’ recitations of certain sentences that highlight specific sounds. House concludes the lesson with some words of advice for his students: that they should practice one individual sound at a time for at least three days and try to hear each of them in their mind in order to memorize them. The complete recording transcript is included in the liner notes.
