The Ragas of India

Derived from the Sanskrit word ranja meaning "to please," a raga is an arrangement of notes which is pleasing to the ear. On this recording noted scholar, Dr. B. R. Deodhar delineates the different measures of time in one of the world’s oldest and most developed musical genres —Indian classical music.
