Getting along in English: For Spanish, French, German and Italian Speaking People Dr. Mario Pei (1901-1978) was a professor of language initially at City College of New York and later at Columbia University. During his teaching career, Dr. Pei wrote over 50 books on language. This 1964 recording is designed to assist French speaking people with the English language while traveling in English speaking countries. The recording is composed of six chapters; beginning with salutations and social amenities and continuing through passport and customs processes to buying passenger train tickets. The liner notes provide a French-English phrase guide.
