French African Poems

Paul Mankin
French African Poems This recording spotlights the work of six French-speaking black and African poets: Léopold Sédar Senghor, David Diop, Guy Tirolien, Bouna Boukary Diouara, Jean-Françoise Brierre, and Aimé Césaire. Topics of these poems include nature, admiration of the beauty of black women, and the growing popularity of Negritude and black pride in literature. Paul Mankin reads these works, which beautifully illustrate the contributions of French African poets to 20th-century literature. Liner notes include the text in French and English.
