Islamic Liturgy: Koran - Call to Prayer, Odes, Litany
Various Artists

Islamic Liturgy contains classical Islamic incantations and lamentations that are to be sung before, during, and after worship. Largely based on the Koran (or Qoran), Islam’s Word of God, this 1960 publication offers a unique glimpse into the music and dance of this typically Middle Eastern religion.
The singers featured are known as Dervishes, Muslims who have devoted their life to poverty and austerity in the name of the faith. The dances performed during these incantations (a description of which can be found in the liner notes) are specific to the order to which the Dervishes belong.
