New Wind

For his seventh Folkways album, singer-songwriter and dulcimer player Kevin Roth offers a collection of 10 folk-pop melodies reflecting the popularity of the emerging new age music genre. The liner notes quote commentary by Tor Johanssen on Public Radio’s WUHY-FM (now WHYY-FM): “Kevin Roth is probably the most creative and talented dulcimer player in the world [at the time of the album’s release].” On this recording Roth is supported with a band of electronic keyboards, synthesizer, Arp Avatar, guitars, bass, percussion, and background vocalists. Liner notes from this 1980 release provide performer credits, song lyrics, and a short review written by Circus magazine associate editor David Fricke.
