Czechoslovakian Folk Ballet

In Czechoslovakian Folk Ballet from Bratislava, the polkas, czardas, and “funny hat” dances from Lucnica’s live performances are accompanied by playful arrangements from Slovakian conductor Miroslav Smid. Smid offers his listeners a glimpse of Czechoslovakia’s musical traditions: “Lucnica’s music is taken from Slovakia’s rich heritage, a mirror of the country’s landscapes: from the haunting improvisations of lonely shepherds to the rhapsodic, impassioned folk style of Slovakian fiddling.” Liner notes include a brief introduction and track descriptions.
