On the Air

The Maddox brothers and their sister Rose began their musical career in 1937 performing on a local radio station in Modesto, California; Rose was 11 at the time. Their music was marked by close harmonies and an infectious enthusiasm. This recording presents two radio broadcasts: a 15-minute program from 1940 and a 30-minute program recorded in 1945. It also includes the recording of their appearance at the Grand Old Opry in 1949 (tracks #18 and 19).
