New Englander's Choice
Skip Gorman
Though American fiddle-playing is perhaps most strongly associated with Appalachia and the West, the New England fiddle tradition (originally the accompaniment to country dances) has roots extending into the 18th Century. On New Englander's Choice, Skip Gorman plays a diverse selection of traditional tunes and tradition-inspired originals collected from performances in New England and Eastern Canada, presenting both the sound of the New England style and the Celtic and French-Canadian music that helped it evolve.
