Joe Mullins - Sites of Ohio's Musical Legacy: Lake Jewelry [Behind The Scenes Documentary]
Watch the fifth in a series of videos with Joe Mullins discussing the influential sites of the story behind ‘Industrial Strength Bluegrass: Southwestern Ohio’s Musical Legacy,’ released March 26th on Smithsonian Folkways. The Lake Jewelry store, as retailers, and Steve Lake, as a promoter and presenter of bluegrass music, have a big part in the region’s bluegrass history. Here, Mullins stands outside the building on Main Street of Franklin, Ohio, where for a half-century it was the top spot to buy bluegrass LPs and 45s. In 1967, the Lake family produced Ohio’s first bluegrass music festival, starring Bill Monroe, The Osborne Brothers, Don Reno, Bill Harrell, and others.
