Traditional Harmony Prepared by Vaclav Nelhybel

In the early 1960s, Czech composer and conductor Vaclav Nelhybel produced a series of music education albums for Scholastic Records. In this release, William Geib narrates a lecture prepared by the composer that explains the traditional harmonic rules of Western music. These include concepts as fundamental as the triad as well as more advanced ideas of extended chords and non-chord tones. An unidentified chamber orchestra provides the musical examples. The detailed liner notes include musical scores and written explanations of each concept.
