15 Early Tejano Classics

This compilation drawn from Arhoolie Records acquisition of Ideal Records in 1990, presents the formative years in the development of Tejano music from 1946 to the 1960s. Among the group of performers who developed and shaped the music are Beto Villa and Isidro Lopez, often considered to be the fathers of the “orquesta Tejana,” the band Conjunto Bernal with Paulino Bernal, and Lydia Mendoza known as "La Alondra de la Frontera" or "The Lark of the Border" in English. The collection also has an early Tejano recording by Freddy Fender. The liner notes lists the Arhoolie album that each track is from.
