This recording is a dramatization of the 1855 murder trial of British surgeon William Palmer, who was accused of poisoning John Parsons Cook. The case is one of the most notorious murders of the 19th century. Working from historic record, attorney Bernard Rosenberg and professor Wallace House re-created the trial, which includes the opening remarks of the Crown’s Attorney-General and of the Defense Attorney, selected testimony from witnesses, and closing summations. The liner notes include a complete transcript of the performance.
