Greek-Jewish Musical Traditions
Various Artists

In the summer of 1970, Dr. Amnon Shiloah captured a small sampling of the Greek Jewish musical tradition that had survived for millennia until the WWII-era Holocaust nearly obliterated this community. The religious and secular vocals represent three styles: the Byzantine (Romaniot), the Judeo-Spanish (Sephardic) and Italian (from Salento in Apulia-Puglia).
