Ghetto Poet

Weldon “Juke Boy” Bonner (1932–1978) was born in the midst of the Great Depression. He experienced hard times throughout his life as he endured health problems, poverty, and the challenge of raising three children as a single parent. His experiences are reflected in the passion of his music and blues poetry. This collection includes songs not previously available on the Arhoolie label. The liner notes provide a brief biography of the artist.
